Prague started out with a bang! I knocked so many tourist monuments, museums, and attractions off my list from day one. I couldn’t help it!! I’ve read about Prague’s art scene from my first art history class in university. It was a no brainer! A rainy day didn’t stop me from stomping around the streets of Prague though. I grabbed my leopard print umbrella and I hit the streets running.
A highlight being the John Lennon Wall. The only public graffiti wall in Prague – meant to inspire youth to continue to be creative in the arts, and always LOVING. All you need is love, right?
Architecturally, the city is fabulous. It looks and feels like blend of fairy land meets Harry Potter. I also had a total geek moment when I purposely went out of my way to see the Dancing Building, also known as the Fred & Ginger Building. Anyone who has taken a Canadian art history class will know of this building. Constructed by Canadian architect Frank Gehry, and inspired by the movement Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers made while beautifully dancing the waltz together. Clearly I’m a Gehry Geek.
Not enough time was spent in this city to get a good grasp on how the people live on a daily basis, but that will leave more time to explore the next time I come to Prague!!
Prague’s nightlife is also sublime. Always good dancing where ever you go… and like I said in an earlier post, dancing is good for the soul. Thumbs up!
Off to Paris to pick up Maaike!!
