Cowtown Christmas

My posts haven’t exactly been prompt in the past couple weeks, but I blame it all on my Christmas enthused family. The holiday cheer naturally began at the beginning of December, and having it be Christmas Day today – our Undy cheer is definitely in full force. Buddy The Elf definitely took our Xmas slogan when he said: “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”. We’ve been doing that for decades! I swear there is not one family member that doesn’t have at least 25 Christmas CD’s in their repertoire, and that’s a fact!

But, let’s back up. From family gatherings, to ugly christmas sweaters these past few weeks have been jam packed – to say the least. The roomies and I went out for our Roommate Christmas Dinner to Prairie Harvest Cafe, and it was delightful. It was filled with wine, more wine, laughter, great food, and of course, great company too. I just love those ladies!

Saskatoon has had one of the mildest winters I can recall, and I am NOT complaining! -10C on an average for the past 2 months?? I’ll take it!! The greatest part is when we get humidity (which also never happens – Saskatchewan is DRY DRY DRY!) and in tow receive this beautiful hoarfrost on all the trees. It’s truly stunning, and I doubt will ever get old. Even on a dreadfully cold day, it can make you feel like you’re in a winter wonderland. Bliss!

I’ll admit, I’ve been a little spoiled lately as I had had just gotten back from Europe in November, and then had opportunity to jet set around the country for a little bit, and then once I finally got settled – everyone wanted to hang out with me! Yay! I met up with a handful of good pals to chat about how life has been treating them these past few months, and how amazing my adventure was. I had to remind myself to ask my friends more questions about themselves, as it’s quite easy to get a little self centred and ONLY chat about Europe… oops!

This year the family decided that we were going to spend the Christmas season with our extended family in Calgary, Alberta. I am blessed to still have both sets of grandparents in my life, so before our departure we had our first of two Christmas’ with the Saskatoon Grandparents. Feeling like a stuffed turkey yourself? Check!

And now? Let’s drive! But first, a coffee and a selfie.

I wish I was more competent with SnapChat, as I didn’t save the wonderful videos I “snapped” of us singing, no, belting out holiday carols en route to YYC!

We’ve arrived! Let the festivities begin… or rather, let Round Two of the festivities begin!

I also have to note that while Christmas Eve shopping there were many, many men at the Tiffany’s Store doing some last minute shopping – bravo men of Calgary. Bravo. Anything in a little blue box is always an epic success… Saskatoon men, take note.

Merry Christmas y’all! From my family to yours, we wish you the merriest of days spent with your loved ones.

Christmas Day also wouldn’t be complete without matching Xmas jammies made by my lovely mother (she has been sewing them every year for the last 18 years!).
